I have been waiting for this book to come out. Before I even knew it was coming I thought it would be so good if there was a book about what to do with your children's art as I had seen some great ideas on other peoples blogs. Then what should arrive in my letterbox but this book! Little Artist Handmade by Carly Schwerdt, who many of you will know as part of the fabric dynamic duo that is Umbrella Prints. Carly wrote this book and I tell ya' it is fabulous!!! Gorgeous photos and beautifully laid out.
It starts off with some great information about art theory, about children and drawing and colour principles and then it has lots of step by step project ideas. It has given me hundreds of ideas of things to do with Busy's pictures.
I immediately wanted to make something from the book. Busy drew a fairy ( note the wings!!) and we made it into a toy. She is thrilled to bits with it and I am too. I love the way kids draw people- everyone has huge heads and long legs!
You can have a look inside the book here. The book will be in the shops from Monday 30th May.
And guess what? I have THREE copies to give away. SORRY to anyone overseas I feel bad that you always miss out (so I have something planned for you all later) but this giveaway is only for Australian residents.
