Have you seen Pips ethical clothing pledge? I am 8 weeks into a buy-no -new -clothes -pledge and I am surprised at how easy it has been. I have been hesitant to make any grand proclamations as I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it! But 8 weeks in and haven't bought one new piece of clothing. Not even anything second hand.
Probably the biggest thing that appealed to me about Pips challenge is that she mentions wearing clothes you already have. I have so many clothes already, I really don't need anything else. And, the thing that helped me the most ? I unsubscribed from all the clothes shop newsletters that arrive in my inbox and tempt me on an almost daily basis. I have seen things I liked, but I decided NOT to buy it by simply asking myself Do I need it? No. It felt good. I'm not even sad about it!!
I have also stopped buying clothes for the girls too. With Marlo at school she doesn't actually need much. Romi has enough too they don't need anymore pretty dresses.
I decided if I made it through January, I would buy a fitbit, I spoke to the fitbit guru and I bought this one.
I am going to try to do this for a whole year. I am sure there will be slip ups along the way but I already feel better about it. I feel better that I am just more aware and not mindlessly consuming, how did I get into that hideous habit? I feel like I am back on track. I feel good.
Are you signed up? Could you? Should you? Would you even dare?
